When we think about Primal eating, Paleo eating, or whatever the next fad diet is, we should think about what is missing. It’s not all about eating a certain way for everyone. These “diets” all have something note-worthy to take away from and implement in our lives. Somehow they only seem to work for short periods of time. Why? Because we don’t take the time to listen, to feel, to get in-tune with ourselves. When was the last time you checked in with you? When was the last time you asked what it is that I need to do for myself to bring me closer to what I want; my health and my happiness?
We don’t all need the same nutrients to sustain our lives. Think about that. We are all made up of different components. We all metabolize differently – we are each unique in our own structures. We also have different goals, desires and needs in order to sustain optimal health. We need to start thinking of our Whole Self not just bits and pieces. It’s time to go back to the basics: listen to our bodies. Decide what we want out of life, and figure out how to get there by listening to ourselves. You are your best professor.
Your body is speaking to you every day. Do you choose to listen? Or do you push until burnout? Everyone is guilty of that from time to time. But how can we get ahead of the burn out? Listen, feel, nourish and repeat.
The conflicting information that is published about what is “good” food versus “bad” food is enough to confuse even the experts. The truth is, we know what will help and heal our bodies. We know what foods nourish and what foods don’t. The question is do you want to find the right balance for you? The balance of health and happiness.
I have been researching and experimenting different ways to heal the body and mind for years. I realized at a young age that my family was plagued by a series of health issues. I wanted to understand them and combat them. Through formal and self-education, I now understand how and why each individual responds differently to not only the food we ingest, but the environment we are in –how we react to the physical, emotional and mental aspects of life as a partnership.
It is time for you to let go of toxic beliefs and negativity. It is time to take your power back and choose you. Don’t allow anything or anyone to get in your way – including you. Clean up. De-clutter your home, clean up the fridge, take out the trash. Try something new this week. Go to the grocery store, stay on the perimeter of the store and make sure you grab something green. Nourish yourself with the good stuff! And you know what I mean – vegetables, fruit, fresh fish, fresh meat etc. Take 5 minutes today to reflect. Say something nice to yourself. Give yourself a high five. Breathe some fresh air, and go back to the basics. Detox your world one breath at a time. Ask for help from others who want to see you succeed.
