5 Ways to be Successful at the Treehouse

Over my 5+ years of being a Coach For Life, I have a pretty good idea of what will make each member the most successful athlete they can be. We have many members who have been with us over 3 years, some up to 10 years! What I’ve noticed with our long- term members is they make training at The Treehouse a part of their daily lives and routine. Even if they do not show up for a workout, they are still paying attention to their training and getting prepared for the week’s programming. I would like to highlight in today’s post, some habits that will make you a more successful athlete, and get the most out of your training.

  • Communicate with your Coach – Call/Text/Email your Coach For Life, we are here to help you along your journey every day. You are not being annoying or bothering us when you text or call. It makes us appreciate you more because we know that you care if you are asking questions or need our help with something. Each member should be interacting with their CFL on a daily or weekly basis, whether it’s in classes or via text/email. We want to hear from you! Keeping you engaged with your training and motivated to get to the gym is super important for long term success.
  • Track Numbers/Journal your Workouts – You want to be able to see results over the course of the year, and to know what to do for each workout. Having a journal or workout app ready to go for each class makes it easy to pull up your numbers and have a game plan for the day. When you book a Private Session with your Coach, they want to see your numbers and progress as well. That way we have a good idea of what your strengths and weaknesses are, and what you need the most help with. I still have journals/notebooks dating back to 2009, which occasionally I’ll take a peek at. It’s pretty amusing to see what my numbers looked like back then, compared to today. I was so weak!! Also, we are going to be bringing back the Zen Planner workout tracker. You will be able to put in your numbers right from the sign in station at the gym. They also developed an app for tracking your workouts. Much more info on that coming soon!
  • Participate in Community Events – The building block of what makes us so special is our amazing community. Whether you’re grabbing food and drinks with some members on a Friday night, or attending one of our many Community Events, being active in the community will guarantee long-term success! How cool is it to walk into a place where you are hanging out with a bunch of friends who all know your name, in a positive and fun environment? Wouldn’t that alone get you out of bed in the morning and in a great mood because you are looking forward to getting to the gym all day? Just having that experience every day will keep you on track, motivated, and engaged year in and year out.
  • Be Consistent – Pretty self-explanatory, stick to your routine! Even if you have a busy week where you don’t make it in or you are on vacation, it is super important to get right back on the horse as quickly as possible. Setting up extra sessions with your coach will help you get on track after a period of time where you can’t get to the gym. Another tip for staying consistent is to look at your schedule each and every week. Put in your calendar each day/time you plan on attending classes. That way you are thinking about your week of training ahead of time.
  • Come to Class Prepared – Take 5 min at the end of the day and get your gym bag ready to go. That way you’re not scrambling in the morning trying to get everything together and out the door. Pack up your workout clothes/shoes/accessories/water bottle and pre or post workout snacks. Take a look at the workout ahead of time so you know exactly what you need for the day. The last thing you want to happen is to get to the gym after a stressful day and realize you forgot your shoes or shorts!

Go over these 5 tips with yourself and see what you need to work on. Remember, if you need any help, your Coach is always there!
