Coach Carla’s Ginger Citrus Water Recipe

 In Gym, Nutrition, Programs

Do you struggle to drink enough water each day? Try Coach Carla’s favorite ginger citrus water! It’s super easy and inexpensive to make and will help keep you on track, especially if you are bored with plain water.

*Ginger is known to aid with digestion, reduce inflammation and muscle soreness and has powerful

  antioxidant properties.

*Lemons have lots of vitamins and minerals our bodies need, namely Vitamin C and potassium. They

also promote hydration, which is especially important for all of us as we come into the hot summer

 months ahead.

Follow my basic recipe below or feel free to add fresh squeezed orange juice, berries, cucumbers or anything else you like!

Ginger Citrus Water

  • Juice of 1-2 lemons
  • 2-inch piece fresh ginger
  • 9-12 cup cold water
  • 1/4 – 1/3 cup honey

Peel and rough chop ginger. Add to blender along with fresh squeezed lemon juice (1-2 lemons depending on your taste). Add 3 cups cold water and process on high about 15 seconds. Carefully pour through fine mesh strainer into big pitcher and press down on pulp with small spatula to squeeze out all the juice (first time will be chunky). Add pressed pulp back into blender with another 3 cups of water. Repeat this process 3 – 4 times total (last time the pressed pulp will be very fine). Add honey, heated a bit right before adding, and stir to combine.

Added Tip: Freeze the pulp to add to your crockpot dishes for enhanced flavor.
